Take a musical journey back in time as we rewind the tracks of Gary Numan and Tubeway Army...

The iconic electronic music pioneers were dominating the UK records music charts in the late 70s and early 80s.​Their debut on the music scene w​as nothing short of electrifying, swiftly ascending the UK records Music Ch​arts and gaining widespread popularity. 

It was their seamless fusion of an edgy new wave sound with traditional punk influences that set them apart...  

But, what really propelled their success? They astounded audiences with their thrilling live appearances, solidifying their status as unconventional trailblazers. 
Their concerts were more than mere performances, they were immersive experiences that had their audience utterly captivated.

Tubeway Army released their debut self-titled album in 1978, making an immediate impression...

However, it isn't until their follow-up album, 'Replicas', in which Gary Numan had a heavier influence, that they reached their commercial peak. The album topped the UK Albums Chart, and its single 'Are 'Friends' Electric? gave the band their first No.1 hit on the UK Music Singles Chart.

The Discogs website is also used as an additional source for this Chartography. For this Chartography we will focus on and include all chart hits associated with Gary Numan  as a solo artist along with those attributed to him specifically or as part of a band or collaboration.

Chartography Scope...

We explore, in charts terms, the ‘Albums’ and ‘Singles’ groups or categories associated with Gary Numan. It is important at this stage to outline what is included within each of these two overall categories.
