The first single of 1989 to achieve chart success was the collaboration with 'Bill Sharpe' named ‘I’m On Automatic’. The single was taken from the collaborative album with 'Sharpe' called ‘Automatic’ which also saw chart success. ‘I’m On Automatic’ entered the UK music charts on 03/06/1989. The single achieved its peak position (No.44) on its chart debut on the 03 June 1989 and was listed for its chart life (two weeks) in the music chart’s ‘Top 75’ positions. The single last appeared in the music chart commencing 10 June 1989.

As stated earlier, Numan’s next chart success was with Bill Sharpe’s album ‘Automatic’. This collaboration’s chart life was for one week only. Entering the UK music charts at No.59 on 08/07/1989 this was its only chart appearance.

Gary’s album ‘Skin Mechanic’ also spent only one week on the UK music charts entering the charts on 28 October 1989 at No.55.
