March - ‘Music for Chameleons’ - (single)

The first track released from the 'I, Assassin' album to chart was the strangely entitled single ‘Music for Chameleons’. The single appeared in the UK’s Official Charts for 7 weeks between 06/03/1982 and 17/04/1982 achieving its highest position at No.19 in the 27 March 1982 music chart. 

June - ‘We Take Mystery (To Bed)’ - (single)

The next track from the album 'I, Assassin' to chart was the equally strange named single release of ‘We Take Mystery (To Bed)’. This second single from the album entered the UK Charts on 19 June 1982 at the No.9 position. The single appeared in 4 weekly music charts in all and was last listed in the weekly chart for 10/07/1982 at position 35. We Take Mystery (To Bed) spent all of its chart run of 4 weeks in the UK’s Top 40.

August - ‘White Boys and Heroes’ - (single)

The last single to be released from the I, Assassin album was ‘White Boys and Heroes. As with its predecessor the single also spent a total of four weeks in the UK music charts. It entered the Official Charts on the 28 August 1982 at the No.20 spot, spending two weeks at that position. The single was last listed in the weekly chart for the week 18 September 1982 at the No.37 position.

September - ‘I, Assassin’ - (album)

After the chart success of the singles from the 'I, Assassin’ parent album was released and entered the music charts on the 18 September 1982. The album entered directly at its peak position of No.8. at that time. I, Assassin spent 6 weeks appearing in the UK’s Official Charts 3 of which were within the chart’s Top 40. The album was last listed in the music charts for the week 18/09/1982 with its final position being No.98.

November - ‘New Man Numan (The Best of Gary Numan)’ -  (album, compilation)

The fist compilation album to specifically feature Numan’s music was the release by ‘TV Records’ ‘New Man Numan (The Best of Gary Numan)’. Aimed at the 1982 Christmas market, the compilation album was released and first charted the UK Official Charts on the 27 November 1982. Whilst it spent a total of 7 weeks in the music charts the compilation could only achieve a high point at No. 45. This was on the chart for the week 18/12/1982.  The compilation album last appeared in the music charts on 08/01/1982 having spent all of its 7-week chart life listed within the Top 75.
